At the first work day since 2015, we received good news from overseas that we won a bid for Angola 400kV-SK Power Transformation Project Hardware Supply rendered by TBEA Co., Ltd. Contractual value for wires and power transformation hardware is amounted over 11 million.
SK Project is the first EPC power transmission project undertaken by TBEA in Angola, with contractual value over one billion US dollars. In the same time, TBEA is our new customer and the first contractor honoring an EPC-related contract valued over 10 million. The contract enables our factory to have the first opportunity to be engaged in Angola and Africa’s 400kV high-voltage power grid project. The project is divided into two single circuits with triple bundled lines 400kV mainframe wire, at length of 682km, and partly 220kV and 60kV sidelines. For mainframe power grid, aluminum alloy wires with triple bundled lines at AAAC660 mm2 will be applied.
Moreover, Angola contractor requires for a change of materials for all grading rings and shielding rings from aluminum to iron, dampers from wrought iron to cast steel, when clarifying technical details. Such change, if improperly handled, will incur a great loss to the factory. However, the oversea department and research center actively worked on solutions and seeking each opportunity to coordinate with Huabei Institute, the main designer, and the contractor. After a series of negotiations on technical changes and contractual details, we successfully earned an additional 1.5 million valued contract in a wise way, thus changing to an active contractor from a passive one. The profit generated is quite lubricate. Apart from that, the research center of our factory was engaged with other bidding-honored suppliers under technical exchanges, achieving a great result. For example, we innovated and adjusted the structures of spacers and suspension wires that guarantees for same strength and compliance with standards while greatly reduces weight of products. Such move generated a substantial profit for the factory.
It’s the first time our factory was offered a chance to be engaged with Africa’s 400kV mainframe power transmission project under ET-N standards system, after winning a bid for Brazil TPT-500kV Transmission Project in South America last year. The contract symbolizes a breakthrough for our factory when applying ET-N standards system for the first time, and accepted by contractor. The result further enriched our experience and knowledge on various standards systems in the world wide, while fully prepared our factory to explore African and Latin American markets.
