In a list compiled by China Power Association on the sixth National Power Technology Achievement of Year 2014, our project “Research and Development on Newly-Designed Cross Board for 1000kV Extra High Voltage Power Transformation Grid” stood out from crowd and earned the first prize on technology achievement.
Since the launch of Twelfth Five-Year Plan, the main feature of China’s power grid has been shifted to extra high voltage power transmission grids. As a result, market need soars. Traditionally, overheads conductor with octuple nodes is applied for 1000kV power transformation project, supported by suspension string conductors in double distributions. Such combination is not stable in case of uneven coating of ice and ice melting, and priced high due to its length of string conductors. For the purpose of seizing the hardware market for extra high voltage power transformation and of demonstrating our factory’s responsibility awareness, the factory organized experts and professionals in a team to solve the problems. The team strives to improving electrical and mechanical performances, and successfully designed the cross board hardware and strings. The product design, applied with finite element analysis method and under numerous times of testing and validation, aims to enhance economical efficiency. In contrast with traditional string, new design shortens the distance between insulator and conductor by approximate one meter, making it economically viable and obtain advanced mechanical performance by prioritizing layout of power field. The successful result is highly recognized by National Power Grid. Application of such products will reduce construction cost by approximate half a million for each kilometer of extra high voltage double circuits wire built. For example, two projects connecting Ximeng with Nanjing and Huainan with Shanghai will save cost as much as RMB one billion. In conclusion, we realized our goal of designing a product high in safety and economic efficiency, gradually improving relevant technical level and economical viability. The social and economical benefits are quite substantial.
The award not only demonstrated our factory’s technical power in field of hardware design for power grids, but also fortifying our leading role in the market. Currently, the “newly-designed cross board supported for 1000kV extra high voltage power transformation grid” is massively applied in 1000kV Huainan-Shanghai Extra High Voltage Direct Current Transmission Project. Additionally, the product is introduced in a book called General Design of Supportive hardware for 1000kV Grid Project that is compiled by National Power Grid, promoting for applying such product for all the constructions of 1000kV power transformation girds.
It’s said that National Power Grid planned to build thirteen extra high voltage power grid project in year 2015 and valued over RMB 300 billion. In the next ten years, China will see a larger market as more 1000kV power transmission projects are initiated and constructed. We believe our products, especially 1000kV extra high voltage cross board string, will seize a large market share by proving its excellent performance in electricity, safety and economical benefit, and thus make a great contribution to China’s power undertakings.
